LAKE CITY: Mr. Ansel Paul Wise, 88, husband of Lillian Cockfield Wise, went home to be with His Lord Sunday, February 05, 2012.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 7th at Carolina Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Cockfield Cemetery.
Mr. Wise was born November 10, 1923, in Hyman, SC, a son of the late Henry Chalmus Wise and Eliza Poston Wise. He was educated in the Hannah Schools and proudly served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He served in the infantry for seven months and Occupation Japan one year. He witnessed the World War II Peace Treaty signing in Tokyo Bay on the Liberty Ship next to the Missouri. Mr. Wise was a farmer and member of Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. The greatest accomplishment in his life was the spiritual legacy he leaves his family and his godly life as an example.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Lillian Cockfield Wise of Lake City; daughter, Patricia W. (Ronald) Hart of Lake City; son, Randy S. Wise of Lake City; grandchildren, Rhonda H. (Billy) Robinson of Effingham, Regina Hart of Pamplico, Ronald E. (Jennifer) Hart, Jr. of Effingham, Richard "Rick" (Jennifer) Wise of Evergreen and Brandi K. (Chris) Hyde of Florence; great-grandchildren, Ashley Shaw, Wayne Henry Shaw, III, Madison Shaw, Landon Shaw, Dean Robinson, Cody Hobbs, Caroline Hobbs, Andrew Wise, Eric Wise, Shay Flowers and Wayne "Tripp" Turner, III; and a great-great-granddaughter, Laisey Elizabeth to be born this May; brother, Harry Wise of Florence; sisters, Myrtis W. Leach of Evergreen, Hazel W. Ronan and Ann W. Gaster, both of Florence, and Zula McAllister of Lake City; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Brenda Godwin Wise, daughter-in-law; Ansel Shay Wise, grandson; brothers, Chalmus Wise, Clifford Wise, and Bill Wise; and sisters, Alene W. Turner and Beila W. Taylor.
