PAMPLICO: Mr. Andy W. Hanna, 67, husband of Carolyn Turner Hanna, died Friday, February 3, 2012, at Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC, after an illness.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Monday, February 6, 2012, at Beulah Free Will Baptist Church in Pamplico.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 7th, at Beulah Free Will Baptist Church. Burial, with Masonic rites, will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hanna was born March 2, 1944, in the Vox Community of Florence County, a son of the late O. W. Hanna, Jr. and Myrtle Cooper Hanna. He was educated in the Florence County Public Schools and retired as Urban Supervisor from Florence County Public Works. Mr. Hanna was a member of Beulah Free Will Baptist Church of Pamplico; past Master and former Treasurer of Pamplico Masonic Lodge #324, past District Deputy Grand Master of the 27th Masonic District and past Director of Florence Provost Guard—Omar Shrine Unit.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn T. Hanna of Pamplico; children, Jonathan (Brandi) Hanna of Timmonsville, Danny (Melissa) Chavis, Becky Stokes and Jamey Chavis, all of Florence; 8 grandchildren; brother, Cecil (Renell) Hanna of Johnsonville; sister, Cheryl “Honey” (Jimmy) Williams of Hemingway; special friend, Reggie Baxley and beloved cat, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scotty Chavis.
